Gettin' ready for Christmas!

It's definitely the most wonderful time of the year! :) I like the smells of Christmas... cinnamon and spices, Christmas trees, candy canes... mmmm. I like going Christmas shopping (early!)... finding the perfect gifts for my loved ones. I like decorating the tree and the house, indoors and out. I like wrapping presents and making them pretty. And I definitely love watching Christmas movies... It's a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street (the old one!), Love, Actually...the list goes on... I'm pumped to be finished with the bulk of my Christmas shopping. It feels so good. Next step...wrapping! :) I also like creating Christmas cards. It takes me a long time to design just the right cards, even though they are simple. So, here are my latest creations: Supplies : Embossing Folders: Fancy Fans, Swiss Dots Die: Labels Four Paper: Crumb Cake, Brushed Gold, Cherry Cobbler (SU!), Colonial White (CTMH) Stamps: Frosted Cardmaking Workshop set (CTMH) Supplies : E

Sunday Card Makin'

Happy Monday to all 3 of you who read my blog!! :) I had to make a sympathy card for a coworker over the weekend, and I thought I'd try a new technique that I've never attempted before: stamping on tissue paper.  There's tons of tutorials on the web, but it's super easy. First, you begin by stamping your image on the tissue paper (crazy, I know!) Make sure you put some scratch paper under the tissue because it will bleed through. Wait for your ink to dry, then crumble the tissue into a ball. Then unball (is that a word??) the stamped image. So you have something like these.... Take a piece of card stock and cover it with glue stick. Make sure every inch of the cardstock is covered!! Then take the tissue paper and stick it on the cardstock. Smooth it out as much as you want. You obviously want the stamped image to be clear, but I think it's interesting for there to be as much texture as possible. I made 2 cards with coloured cardstock on the base for my t

Trick or Treat!

Wowzers! I haven't blogged in awhile. I've had some significant changes in my life over the past few months, so now it's time to get back to what I love. I made some Halloween treat holders, courtesy of the video tutorial over at My Chic 'n Scratch ( here ).  It was great to use my Two Tags die finally! :) The stamps are all Recollections/Michael's. I don't spend a lot of money on Halloween stamps, because I don't make Halloween cards. Actually, this is my first Halloween project. I used my CTMH black ink for most of the stamping. But for the "Spooktacular" stamped image, I used CTMH smokey plum pigment ink, along with clear detail embossing powder ( here ). I love how it turned out. I also used Smokey Plum and White Daisy cardstock. As for the patterned paper, stay tuned. For the life of me, I can't remember the names of the collections. But I will update that information :)   Patterned paper is by: EP The Apothecary Emporium, K&a

Is it too early to get ready for Christmas?

Happy Monday! Just thought I'd share some Christmas cards that I made on the weekend. The snow man image is from CTMH's "Flakey Friends" stamp set and the sentiment is from the Pear and Partridge card-making kit stamp set (both from the Fall/Winter 2012 Idea Book).  I used Spellbinders Labels Four , Swiss dots embossing folder, Michael's silver ribbon, and a bunch of miscellaneous card stock. I can't remember who the patterened paper is by, but I will check when I get home!  This year, I intend on making my Christmas cards well in advance, so I have time to do them right! And maybe sell a few on the side! :)

Update, much?

Wow. It's been awhile since I last updated my blog! We had another card class at work. The other girls designed two cards and I designed a little Easter basket using my Fancy Favor die. Common theme... butterflies! It wasn't on purpose either. Those who attended the workshop had a blast. Everyone likes creating something pretty :) I received a CTMH order last week. I am SO happy with the products I ordered! I created a couple of things this weekend: This is a card I created with the Buzz and Bumble paper pack (X7164B); the Quick Cards- Bumble Bee stamp (A1135) and the brown and tan glitter paper (Z1830). I also added some brown and tan sparkles (Z1753) after the picture was taken. This is an awesome paper pack. I wasn't so sure about it, but am so glad I ordered it anyway. I also received this in my order last week: Fabulous You (C1533). I embossed this stamped image with gold embossing powder. It. Is. Beautiful. The picture does not do it justice. I used Spe

"I'm a teacher!"

Yesterday at work (during lunch hour), we had a card-making class. Myself and two of my co-workers each designed a card; I designed a birthday card, and there was a Valentine's Day card and a sympathy card. There were 9 people signed up for the class. We decided to do the cards in stations, 3 people to a station. Once everyone was done making the card at that station, they moved onto the next. It was kind of like speed dating...except in a card-making class! It worked really well, because we didn't have a huge line of people waiting to use one stamp or ink colour. We did the 3 cards in less than an hour. The "students" were thrilled with their cards. We had quite a few ladies who had never made cards before and they were so surprised that they could make cards that looked as good as the samples!  Card-making is SO EASY :) As well, we had a lot of interest afterwards, because the "students" went back to their floors and shared the cards that they had made

Holy Cow...

...I'm a Close to My Heart independant consultant! I finally took the plunge into something new. Something pretty far out of my comfort zone.  For those of you who don't know me, I can be kind of shy around new people...but I'm really excited about CTMH and want to share their products with everyone I know! :) Here are a couple reasons why I love CTMH: 1. Price Point: I love the process of card-making. I get to be creative and sometimes it is hard work, but it is rewarding work. But, I absolutely love the process of shopping for supplies too. With CTMH, you get fantastic stamps and accessories for a great price. No stamp set in the catalogue is more expensive than $17.95... and that's a HUGE selling point for me. 2. Quality: Not too long ago, I could be heard saying, "I HATE CLEAR STAMPS!" And I did. Then I saw this stamp set ( http://tlchetwynd.ctmh.com/Retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=6609&CatalogID=1834 ). I spent a lot of time trying to decide whet

(The character Sally Reardon from the tv series, "Felicity.")   Happy New Year! Posting a picture of one of my fave Christmas gifts...   My dad made this stand for my stampin' stuff! It has 2 drawers and 2 shelves (as you can see). Both are wide and deep enough for 12 x 12 paper, so that's super awesome! Dad made another one for my sister, only hers has 3 drawers and 1 shelf.  We were very excited to what he came up with. My sister and I did a basic design of what we wanted, and Dad did the rest. I think it looks fantastic and I'm so excited to use it. I'll post a pic when it's all full of goodies too! My bbe (best boyfriend ever) got me my camera!! He got the right one, and everything (Nikon Coolpix L810 in RED!)  I haven't had a camera in 2 years, since my nephew decided to throw my camera in my sister's pool (good thing he is cute!). I've been too cheap to get another one.  But the bbe done good! ;) I had a fantastic Christmas
