"I'm a teacher!"

Yesterday at work (during lunch hour), we had a card-making class. Myself and two of my co-workers each designed a card; I designed a birthday card, and there was a Valentine's Day card and a sympathy card.

There were 9 people signed up for the class. We decided to do the cards in stations, 3 people to a station. Once everyone was done making the card at that station, they moved onto the next. It was kind of like speed dating...except in a card-making class! It worked really well, because we didn't have a huge line of people waiting to use one stamp or ink colour. We did the 3 cards in less than an hour.

The "students" were thrilled with their cards. We had quite a few ladies who had never made cards before and they were so surprised that they could make cards that looked as good as the samples!  Card-making is SO EASY :) As well, we had a lot of interest afterwards, because the "students" went back to their floors and shared the cards that they had made and the fun they had doing them. I got a message from one co-worker that said that the people on her floor had had such a good time at class, and that she will have to sign up for the next one! :) I think that is fantastic.

We are definitely going to do it again!! Probably in March. Just gotta find a new project to do!

Merry Christmas Slimline

I did another card from this week's  Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge  (sketch #469). This time, I did a Christmas card! I used Gina K's woodgraining technique (you can find a tutorial here ). I also used Distress Frosted Crystal embossing powder; here's a close-up of the effect: For the snowflakes and the sentiment, I cut the shapes out twice and glued them together to make them thicker. Very happy with how this one turned out! :) Supplies : Dies: Merry Christmas sentiment (unbranded), Tim Holtz Sizzix Holiday Greens Mini, Pink & Main Stitched Slimline, SU! Snowfall Thinlits Paper: SU! Mossy Meadow, Real Red and Very Vanilla cardstock, Recollections Gold Foil cardstock Ink: Distress Oxide Vintage Photo, SU! You Did It!

It has been awhile since I participated in the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge , so yesterday I popped on to see what the sketch was this week. I need a graduation card for my niece who is graduating from elementary school this June, so I thought I'd allow this sketch to give me inspiration! This is what I came up with:  I made it in the school colours (red and gray).  This is also (I think) the first time I've ever made a slimline card. I like how it turned out! Supplies: Cardstock: Recollections Black and Gold Foil; SU! Real Red, Smokey Slate, and Whisper White; and Gina K Wild Dandelion Stamps: CTMH You Did It, Just a Little Something, and Time to Celebrate Dies: SU! Stitched Circles and unbranded slimline scalloped rectangle
