Coworker Mini Treat Bags

Super quick treats for my coworkers on Halloween! I made 12 in less than an hour. More like 30 minutes. I just wanted a little something to wish them a happy Halloween, so they are definitely not fancy. I used Spellbinders Labels Four, and I inked the edge of the die cut with CTMH black ink. I used a variety of stamps: CTMH's Frightfully Fun (happy halloween sentiment); the Spooktacular and the BOO! are from Michaels $1.50 bins, and the ghost and boo are from a stamp set by Recollections. Used some baker's twine from Recollections and also SU! Cajun Craze ink. I also used CTMH's mini stapler to affix the tags to the bags. I LOVE that tool! My mini treat bags are filled with Jelly Belly's candy corn. My coworkers were excited to see these land on their desks this morning!

Halloween Treat Boxes 2015

Some of you may recall my Halloween treat cups from last year (see them here ). I loved making them, giving them out and the reception they got: I hand a little girl a treat cup. She looks at it, then at me. "Uhm...I'm not sure my parents will let me drink coffee." I laughed and said, "That's ok, there are treats inside!" Now this year, I have to say, I don't *love* my treat boxes as much as I did last year's treat cups. But I do think they are cute.  I did use the same stamp set as last year, CTMH's Frightfully Fun (and I will use it well into the future because I think it's stinking cute!) I also used the same paper from a Recollections Halloween paper chain kit, because I the kit came with so much of it. And it was the exact right size for the bands on the pillow boxes. The pillow boxes were from Dollarama. They came 8 in a package for $1.25! I picked them up over the summer, and good thing too - I haven'

Sangria!

I bought the Sangria paper pack without being entirely sold on it. But this card came out really cute! I stamped the cake on one of the B&T papers in Eggplant ink and I love the effect. Tags, tags, tags

I haven't been feeling too well for the past couple days, but I couldn't let that keep me from being creative! So I created a few simple tags, mostly for Christmas. I used the October Stamp of the Month Twinkle and the stamp set from the White Pines cardmaking workshop. It's my usual colour combination - Cranberry, Olive and the White Pine B&T. I got the tags at Michael's in the $1.50 bins - 16 kraft tags and twine! I also used my Swiss Dots embossing folder, and a sparkly holly berry sticker! For these tags, I wanted to show how versatile a "Christmas" stamp could be. Two tags are Christmas, using the White Pines cardmaking workshop stamp set and the one in the middle could be for any occasion! Just by changing the colour scheme and the sentiment you can make a stamp work for virtually any occasion. Left: Used Pacifica, Whisper and Glacier inks. And for the sentiment I used Handlettered Christmas. Center: Used Cashmere, Pomegranate and Eggp

World Card Making Day 2015

Since it is a little rainy outside, I decided to stay inside and hunker down in my craft room and make some cards, in celebration of World Card Making Day. I'll start with a couple of cards that I made with Twinkle, the October Stamp of the Month from CTMH.  They are both pretty simple. I random stamped the December 25 stamp, with Pacifica and Glacier ink, and inked the edges with Glacier. I also used Whisper ink to do the stars. I used silver shimmer trim, Glacier and White Daisy cardstock. The sentiment is CTMH Say It All. I also used a Bitty Sparkle on the sentiment. The second card was made using White Colonial, Cranberry and Olive cardstock. The "Merry Christmas" sentiment was made using the Artiste Cricut cartridge.  I embossed the Olive cardstock using the SU! Lucky Star embossing folder, but you really can't notice it, since there is not much of the cardstock showing. I used a Bitty Sparkle, and CTMH Cranberry, Olive and SU! Chocolate Chip inks. I t

I love making Christmas cards and I love the CTMH White Pines paper pack. It's that time again...

...Christmastime! And also, Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge time. This is sketch 124: I was playing around with the scraps from my White Pines Workshop-On-The-Go this morning and I came up with this interpretation of the sketch: Supplies : CTMH White Pines paper pack CTMH Colonial White, Olive and Cranberry cardstock CTMH Olive ink CTMH Say It All stamp set CTMH Red shimmer trim CTMH Sparkles, Brown and Tan assortment Spellbinders Layered Poinsettia Random yellow bling for the centre of the poinsettia (think they may be called rain drops or something, but have no idea where they are from) I love the "Say It All" stamp set. I have used it a TON since I got it. Any time you need a small sentiment, it is the perfect fit. I especially love that all of the stamps are different fonts. Thanks for checking out my card!

Fabulous Friend!

Just a quick project! I took a plain notebook, and decorated it with some scraps! Combining retired papers and new stamps! :) Supplies : CTMH Balloon Ride paper pack CTMH cardstock: Cocoa and White Colonial SU! Paper Garden (LOVE THIS!)

I was beyond thrilled to see the September stamp of the month. I LOVE the look of silhouette flowers, always have. The first one I did with watercolours and watercolour paper. Make sure you let the paint dry before you stamp! I let mine dry overnight. I found that the paint/water combo sometimes warps the paper, but if you lay a book or something heavy on top of it, the paper flattens out again. But don't lay something on top while it is still wet!  :) I love the look of this card. So simple...the colours look like sunset, which is what I was aiming for. I almost think I don't want to give this card away! :) The second card I made was SUPER quick... like 5 minutes quick. I used some patterned paper from the Seaside paper pack, Colonial White cardstock, and Glacier, Black and Whisper inks. Both cards used the Paper Garden SOTM stamp set and the Say It All stamp set, which is a Hostess Rewards set.  Looking forward to posting some projects with some new CHRIS

New catalogues mean new creations!

*Drum roll please!* The first card I made was my first watercolour card with CTMH watercolours. I'm enjoying learning new watercolour techniques. Thanks, YouTube! :) My cards also showcase the National Stamping Month stamp collections: Hello, Life . There are 3 different C-sized sets, designed for Scrapbooking, Pocket Scrapbooking and Cardmaking. As you can see, I've used all three sets on my cards. These sets are only available for the month of September, and you can purchase them for $16.50 a piece, or you can get the entire collection for $41.50 (a savings of $8 when you buy all 3). Hey Baby!

Just playing around with some new techniques...watercolours! There a lot of Youtube tutorials on watercolour techniques (for beginners!) This would be considered "dry on dry,"  I think. I used hot press watercolour paper, because I thought I might stamp on the paper - but I decided not to and just used some cardstock instead. I love the look of watercolours on cold press paper, but don't think it is as easy to get a clear stamped image on the cold press. I also used the "fork bow" technique for the first time in a long while.  Not gonna lie... it took me several tries to get a bow that I liked. (Awesome Youtube tutorial -  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkVSWk-ULBs ) Thanks for looking! :) Supplies : Watercolours Craft pink ribbon (Dollarama) CTMH ink, Cotton Candy Tsukineko Dew Drop Brilliance Fast-drying pigment ink, Pearlescent Orchid CTMH White Daisy Cardstock Fabriano Hot Press Watercolor paper Unity Stamp Co. - So Happy for You stamp set

With Sympathy

My grandmother passed away almost 4 years ago. I was given some things from her house, including a large batch of sympathy cards she received when my Mom passed away in 2008. 47 cards, to be exact. I didn't want to throw them all away, because they still mean a lot to me - they mean that people were thinking about our family through one of our darkest times. But at the same time, these cards, sitting in a Ziploc bag on one of my craft shelves were not doing anything but taking up space. When I saw this week's AHSC sketch, I had an idea... Inspiration : Interpretation : This is probably the first scrapbook page I have done in 5 years; I have been concentrating on doing cards, mini albums and other altered projects. I used quite a few of the sympathy cards on this layout. I suspect this is the beginning of a double page spread, as I still have so many cards left. I included some personal notes that people had written about my Mom (but you probably can't n

The inspiration for this week in the  Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge : This is my interpretation of the sketch: I was so excited to do this sketch, because I remembered that I had some White Daisy Circle Spin cards from CTMH that I'd never used... this is the perfect sketch to use them with! It's also my first project using CTMH Seaside. Thanks for looking! :) Supplies : Inks - SU! I love a rainy day!

I've had a busy day of cleaning (ugh!) and a little card-making. I am participating in the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge this week. Here's the sketch:   I must admit that had a little trouble with this sketch. This is what I came up with: I started off with a caroller stamp - I have no idea what the brand is, it was a yard sale item with no label or other identifying marks. It is a lovely stamp; anyone who recognizes it, let me know and I'll give credit to the company! I cut the stamped image out using the Deco Labels framelits, and sponged the edges with Crumb Cake. The base of the card is black cardstock. I cut out 2 pieces of Yuletide Carol paper about an inch wide. I layered some black glitter tape on the top and bottom of the two strips of paper. I took another piece of Yuletide Carol paper, tore it and sponged some Crumb Cake ink on the edges.  I popped the stamped image using 3D foam tape.  I'm pretty happy with the end result. Chri

Inspiration from the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge : Interpretation : My favourite part of this card is the coffee cup. I love the paper piecing and the way the 3D tape just pops it up!  (Sorry about the quality of the pic... left it to the last minute!) AHSC #108

At work today, I found out that my friend's dog was killed by an impaired driver over the weekend. She cried when she told me, and then we both cried together :( So sad. Tonight, when I thought about doing this week's sketch challenge (over at AHSC ), I wanted to make her a card to let her know I was thinking of her.  It's tough to lose a pet, no matter what - but I knew these two were the best of friends. Inspiration:  Interpretation: I used PML Skylark for the sentiment and block of patterned paper and a Recollections doily.  The ribbon is from SU! Everyday Enchantment Organdy in Lucky Limeade. I used White Daisy cardstock for the base, and (Dollarama?!) chocolate brown that I embossed with Cuttlebug Swiss Dots.  I also distressed the edges with the CTMH edge distresser.

Quick Card on a gorgeous Saturday!!

I made a quick 3x3 center step "thank-you" card. Using the Jackson paper pack (current fave), with barn red, colonial white and glacier card stock. Also used the stamp set "Finding the Words" and glacier extra thick twine (which I am also LOVING!). I usually cut out the card bases in advance, so I only have to embellish them when I need them. Happy Saturday! :)

AHSC #107

I'm participating in the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge again this week...pop on over and see what it's all about.  This is the inspiration:  And this is my interpretation:  I used the Jackson paper pack and Picture My Life cards again (sorry!) but I needed to make a masculine birthday card. The stamp I used was CTMH's Finding the Words (LOVE this one!) and I also used some Oceanside Sequins. The zip strip was a leftover from my last AHSC card :) Victoria Day Weekend - cannot wait to get out and work on the yard this weekend!! If it's nice out, I don't want to spend too much time inside. But, I'd like to get my scrappy room more organized too. Have a fabulous weekend!

AHSC #105

I'm participating in my first sketch challenge over at Atlantic Hearts . Here's the inspiration: And here's my very simple interpretation: I used my new Jackson Picture My Life and Paper Packet. I cut the quote out from one of the PML cards and used one of the zip strips on the B&T patterned paper. I used CTMH Barn Red cardstock, embossing about 3/4 of the page with the Provocraft Script  embossing folder. The card base is CTMH Glacier cardstock. I used a sanding block to distress the embossed portion of the cardstock and the CTMH Edge Distresser on the edges of my card. I usually stamp on my cards, so this was a nice change of pace for me. I love incorporating PML into my projects because it is just super easy! I wasn't sure how I felt about the Jackson collection, but now that I see it in action, I am a fan. Thanks for looking! :)

Happy Workplace Easter! :)

Just a quick little Easter project for my work colleagues! I used Wilton's baking cups - just one for each basket. Depending on the thickness of baking cups you use, you might need more than one. I used CTMH White Daisy cardstock for the handles (approx. 5.5" in length - I didn't really measure the width, so you can tell that some are wider than others).  I attached the handles with some coloured staples (thank you Dollarama!)  I got 20 of these done in less than a half an hour. Also, you could glam these up with flowers or bling on the handle! Or ribbon, or baker's twine, or... hey, the possibilities are endless! I put some chocolate eggs, cookies n creme eggs and little chocolate/caramel bunnies and nests in the baskets. They are super quick and easy, but most of all appreciated by my co-workers! :)

Croppy Saturday!

I attended a crop on Saturday with my good friend, Esther! :) We had a blast. Here's what I created: I used Stampin' Up's new Mini Treat Bag thinlits die along with CTMH's Brushed paper packet. I'm going to put some tasty treats in them for Valentine's Day. Also, Picture My Life-esque cards for my healthy workplace bulletin board at work! They are all made using CTMH stamps from various sets. I love the way they turned out. They are just simple cards, meant to brighten someone's day.  Here's my healthy workplace board: I think it looks good. One of my work colleagues approached me today and commented on how nice it was, and how she may take a couple of the cards for herself! Made my day :)
