"Teacher says, every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings."

Most "wonderful" Christmas movie of life!!

On Saturday past, I decided to get right down to it and make some Christmas cards. So I put on my dvd copy of Miracle on 34th Street (1947 version with Maureen O'Hara; I misplaced my copy of "It's a Wonderful Life" *sigh*) and got to work.

All told, I got 12 Christmas cards finished. Which is fantastic, for me. I did one batch in the Stampin' Up! "Be Of Good Cheer/Festival of Prints" collection (6) and one batch of white cards.

And voila...

Supplies used:
Cardstock: Recollections, Stampin' Up! (Very Vanilla, Gumball Green and Cherry Cobbler)
Patterned paper: Be of Good Cheer and Festival of Prints (Stampin' Up!)
Dies:  Fancy Flourish (Die-Namics); Top Note Die and Ornament Keepsakes ( Stampin' Up!)
Bling: Recollections

Punches: Decorative label punch (Stampin' Up!) and Medium branch (Martha Stewart)
Stamps:  Ornament Keepsakes, Greetings of the Season, Many Merry Messages and More Merry Messages (Stampin' Up!)
Embossing powder: clear and gold

I LOVE the Be of Good Cheer collection. The patterns are gorgeous.

Supplies used:
White card stock: Recollections
Dies: Layered Poinsettia (Spellbinders); Fancy Flourish (Die-Namics); Top Note Die and Ornament Keepsakes (Stampin' Up!)
Pearl: Recollections
Embossing folder: Figgy Pudding "Flowers" and "Dots" (Basic Grey); Polka dots(Sizzix)

Stamps: More Merry Messages and Ornament Keepsakes (Stampin' Up!)
White ribbon: Michael's
Embossing powder: clear and gold

I loved the size of the cards using the Top Note die. I think it's the perfect size for me to work with. I especially love the "Layered Poinsettia" from Spellbinders. It is AWESOME! I didn't take close-ups on the Ornament Keepsakes cards that I heat embossed using clear embossing powder, but they look really cute too. I love embossing... it just adds a little something else to a card. As you might be able to tell, I am LOVING the Fancy Flourish die. I'm pretty sure it will be a staple in my card-making stash for years to come.

My pictures aren't all that awesome...still using my BB to take them. For Christmas I've asked for a new camera, so hopefully Santa is listening!

What's on tap for this long weekend? Making a ton more Christmas cards! :)

Merry Christmas Slimline

I did another card from this week's  Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge  (sketch #469). This time, I did a Christmas card! I used Gina K's woodgraining technique (you can find a tutorial here ). I also used Distress Frosted Crystal embossing powder; here's a close-up of the effect: For the snowflakes and the sentiment, I cut the shapes out twice and glued them together to make them thicker. I'm participating in the Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop .  My card is does not have a Spring/Summer theme - but it's never too early for Christmas, right? Last year, I started my Christmas cards in January - this year, I waited until yesterday to make my first Christmas card.  I just haven't been feeling the Christmas vibe so far this year. You Did It!

It has been awhile since I participated in the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge , so yesterday I popped on to see what the sketch was this week. I need a graduation card for my niece who is graduating from elementary school this June, so I thought I'd allow this sketch to give me inspiration! This is what I came up with:  I made it in the school colours (red and gray).  This is also (I think) the first time I've ever made a slimline card. I like how it turned out!
