With Sympathy

My grandmother passed away almost 4 years ago. I was given some things from her house, including a large batch of sympathy cards she received when my Mom passed away in 2008. 47 cards, to be exact. I didn't want to throw them all away, because they still mean a lot to me - they mean that people were thinking about our family through one of our darkest times. But at the same time, these cards, sitting in a Ziploc bag on one of my craft shelves were not doing anything but taking up space. When I saw this week's AHSC sketch, I had an idea... Inspiration : Interpretation : This is probably the first scrapbook page I have done in 5 years; I have been concentrating on doing cards, mini albums and other altered projects. I used quite a few of the sympathy cards on this layout. I suspect this is the beginning of a double page spread, as I still have so many cards left. I included some personal notes that people had written about my Mom (but you probably can't n...

I love a rainy day!

I've had a busy day of cleaning (ugh!) and a little card-making. I am participating in the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge this week. Here's the sketch:   I must admit that had a little trouble with this sketch. This is what I came up with: I started off with a caroller stamp - I have no idea what the brand is, it was a yard sale item with no label or other identifying marks. It is a lovely stamp; anyone who recognizes it, let me know and I'll give credit to the company! I cut the stamped image out using the Deco Labels framelits, and sponged the edges with Crumb Cake. The base of the card is black cardstock. I cut out 2 pieces of Yuletide Carol paper about an inch wide. I layered some black glitter tape on the top and bottom of the two strips of paper. I took another piece of Yuletide Carol paper, tore it and sponged some Crumb Cake ink on the edges.  I popped the stamped image using 3D foam tape.  I'm pretty happy with the end result. Chri...
